Expressionism Sessions
Inspired by Jean- Michel Basquiat, Expressionism is a Experience that displays a Dj and a Artist having a Jam Session within their own muse. Both being expressive in their craft while giving the Listener/Viewer a high level experience displaying what could be considered as a symbiotic relationship between music and art.
Jean-Michel Basquiat
was a artist during the 1980’s. In a art culture that was defined by minimalist pieces of art and galleries full of conceptualism, Basquiat was creating art that would be defined as Neo-Expressionism. This art style gave attention to the emotions of the artist depicted on canvas accompanied by intense colors and dramatic forms. During his rise to fame some of the most influential galleries didn’t want to feature his art even calling it “primitive”. The response was coded racism. Although Basquiat did see much success, it wasn’t until his unfortunate death that the art world begin to really appreciate and champion his genius. His work created a new kind of art and lead the movement for the art we see even today. Despite the way he was received by the art world it fueled him to submerge that much deeper into his art.
